SXCY Series Impulse Voltage Generator is a high-voltage test system used to evaluate the insulation performance and protective characteristics of power equipment against lightning and switching overvoltages.
It is mainly applied to lightning impulse full-wave tests, lightning chopped-wave tests, and switching impulse voltage tests. The generator supports eight standard impulse waveforms for different testing requirements, including standard lightning, switching, oscillating, steep-front, and transformer induced switching waves.
The system is widely applicable to power equipment manufacturers, utilities, laboratories, and R&D institutions.
This test system is applicable to major HV equipment such as transformers, insulators, power cables, surge arresters, switchgear, CT/PT and bushings. Typical users include high-voltage laboratories, independent testing institutes, electrical manufacturers and power grid R&D centers, where it supports both type tests and routine production tests.
High voltage equipment can experience severe transient overvoltages caused by lightning or switching operations. Impulse voltage testing helps verify whether the insulation system can withstand these transient stresses before equipment is placed into service.
Typical test objects include:
A lightning impulse test simulates transient overvoltage caused by lightning, while a switching impulse test evaluates insulation performance under switching-related overvoltages. The required waveform and test voltage depend on the equipment and applicable standard.
Large-capacity test objects may affect the generated waveform. A properly designed impulse generator therefore needs good load adaptability, low-inductance connections and effective waveform-shaping technology.
